Who We Are
The Emperor Haile Selassie I Memorial Foundation
was established on July 23rd in 1995 The Emperor Haile Selassie I Memorial Foundation established in July 23, 1995. It was set up as a national welfare intuition and works with the Ethiopian Charities and Societies Agency. Its founding aim was to ensure history recalls Haile Selassie as one of the great leaders of the 20th century. Who led Ethiopia to modernity, while keeping intact the country’s rich traditions, culture and independence?
It was established to promote the economic and social wellbeing of the Ethiopian people. The foundation’s mission is carried out through the mobilization of resources and founding. It aims to accelerate economic development and poverty reduction as well as enhancing social opportunities and conserving historical relics with establishment of libraries and museums.
The Foundation provides scholarships for Ethiopia students who have achieved excellent results in national examination but unable to cover the cost of higher education. It currently supports more than 100 students from across the country. Its long term plan includes establishing libraries and museums in different regions. It also plans to establish a memorial library and museum in Addis Ababa where a collection of historical relics and documents that bear testimony to the work of Haile Selassie, as well as other former Emperors, will be put on display.
EHSIMF’s scholarship opportunities exist to provide educational grants and scholarships to students pursuing undergraduate educational goals as well as ongoing professional development in order to support their career advancement and to help them become the role models, mentors and leaders of the future.

Management
EHSIMF is managed by board. The board has chairman and deputy chairman. The board members comprises different individual from different backgrounds including the relatives of the Emperor. The board makes all decisions related to the Foundation.

- Promote knowledge and technology sharing opportunities among international learning intuitions
- Develop and disseminate promotional materials, create opportunities for image building and public support and fund raising

- Digitalizing the office work by launching a website
- Motivating current supporters and increasing number of new ones
- Disseminating informative brochures and flyers
- Campaigning to get more financial, material, and any support that help us achieve our goals
- Tasking back at least one of HIS’s buildings confiscated by the government
- Securing a place to build the memorial monument of Emperor Haile Selassie I
- Recruiting 120 students to support via the scholarship program
